Upcycling Refugee Style

This week I noticed a facebook post being shared about a Dutch design student who was volunteering on Lesbos helping refugees get to shore safely. She noticed the enormous waste caused by the inflatable dingies and life jackets that were left behind. Together with a designer she developed a way to make backpacks that the refugees can use for their further journey through Europe, for minimal costs and without using electricity. It’s a great story about upcycling and being creative with available resources.
